Hedwig Dohm Award: Determined Advocate of Women`s Rights

The League of Women Journalists honors a media professional every for her outstanding journalistic (career) perfomance and her commitment to women's rights.

The award ist given in memory of German journalist Hedwig Dohm (1833-1919). She called for the vote an better educational opportunities for women, as well as sex education and university admission for girls.

Also today, many women media professionals show courage, humor and determination in promoting women's rights and representation, and in supporting women's work in journalism and the media.

Young Journalists' Award: Different Words - New Accents

Since 2002, the League of Women Journalists has awarded a prize to young colleagues whose innovative and sophisticated journalistic work helps to achieve gender democracy.

The Young Journalists' Award is intended to provide recognition and incentive to colleagues upt to the age of 35 for unusual or controversial accounts of gender relations that transcend stereotypes and clichés to show women and men in the light of their diverse experience, professional skills, and social abilities.

The main award includes a monentary award, and ist given to a different branch of the media each year (print, radio, television, online).
